Meet Mel: The Heart and Soul of Housekeeping at Rockland Ridge
January 29, 2025
Meet Melody Nichols—known to everyone as Mel—one of the exceptional housekeepers at Rockland Ridge. Though she has only been with us for about nine months, Mel brings a wealth of experience to the team, with nearly 14 years in long-term care. Her career in both housekeeping and laundry has allowed her to build meaningful relationships with residents, something she holds close to her heart. Mel has a natural gift for making people feel comfortable, with a calming presence that provides reassurance and warmth to everyone around her.
Before joining Rockland Ridge, Mel worked as a teaching assistant at a high school, supporting students with disability accommodations. While she enjoyed that role, her passion lies in long-term care. She finds joy in connecting with the elderly, forming bonds that make her work more than just a job—it’s a calling.
Outside of work, Mel is as vibrant and multi-talented as they come. She loves singing at her church and enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, biking, boating, and four-wheeler riding. Mel also has a knack for transforming spaces, and one of her favorite hobbies is working on “fixer-upper” houses, bringing her love for cleaning and fixing things into her personal life.
At Rockland Ridge, Mel’s kind, caring, and compassionate nature shines through in all she does. Her warmth extends not only to the residents but also to her coworkers, making her a beloved member of the team.
Thank you for all you do, Mel! Your dedication, positivity, and passion make a difference every day. Keep up the amazing work!
